Beginner DJ Gear

When it comes to jumping into a new hobby or passion, you want to make sure you get the right equipment to get you started. This stuff changes periodically and items may be updated, added, or removed.

Controller

The Pioneer DDJ FLX 4is the most cost effective option to get started. This unit can be purchased for around $300, and has a familiar layout that will allow you to explore DJing with very few limitations.

Headphones

There's some good options, and these Audio Technica ATH-M30x's will do you wonders. If you spend a little bit more in this category, the money will last you a while. You may change controllers or monitors but a solid pair of headphones are worth it.

Monitors

You need to spend at least $100 for an acceptable pair. These Pioneer DM-40's pack a punch. Another situation where if you spend a little more, you may never need to upgrade. Keep in mind that you'll be DJing in a home situation and you probably don't need anything loud.

Laptop Stand

Protect your expensive laptop and keep comfortable angles using the Odyssey LStand360. If you splurge on any beginner purchase - make it be the one that holds up the most expensive part of a setup - a laptop.
